Many firearms have a wide range of aftermarket parts which will allow you to customize the gun to your liking.

That doesn’t mean you should necessarily use them.

But why?

So glad you asked.

Reason #1: Don’t Jump The Gun
Familiarize yourself with the gun first. Shoot it stock. Then shoot it again. And again. And again. Many guys are very quick to buy a new gun and start swapping out stock for aftermarket parts before they really know how it shoots. Put 1000 rounds through it and break it in. Learn the ins and outs and notice how YOU shoot with it. You’ll be surprised you probably need to swap out less than you think you do. 

Reason #2: Function Over Aesthetics
Are you swapping out parts just to make it look pretty or improve function (accuracy, range, recoil)? A gun is a tool, and some of the best tools aren’t much to look at out of the box. Its sole purpose is to function when needed. Those wishing to do harm aren’t going to stop what they’re doing to compliment the custom “Punisher” back plate on your Glock.

Reason #3: Reduce Malfunctions
Stock guns were engineered by the manufacturer this way for a reason. Are they perfect? No. Are stock parts designed specifically to work in perfect unison when pulling the trigger? Yes. If the manufacturer wanted it different, their engineers would have designed it that way. Remember, the more parts you swap out the more room for error there is for the gun to not perform according to the manufacturer's standards.

At the range, this may cause you a few minutes of troubleshooting, but in the real world, this may cost you your life.
